This is so true, Richard. My poem "Shaman" was inspired by a very similar thought. All our DNA came from somewhere. We are all the result of those who came before us, and you don't have to go back all that far, really, by the years nature reckons, to find your hunter gatherer forebears.
Living with current hunter gatherers, out in the desert here, made me think of this often.
